haus as in structure, as in gathering, as in group, as in community, as in family.
vovo as in epic camp and flamboyance. as in colour, as in maximal, as in Well, why not, life is short.
haus of vovo is an independent gallery space curated by artist Tricky Walsh, created to support other artists with a focus on immersive or installation based practices. there are four solo exhibitions and a group show each year. exhibitions run for at least six weeks because less would be an insult to the efforts and the labour of the artists who create things to show here.
you can meet them half way by bringing your curiosity.
For artists:
Curatorial interests focus on complexity - whatever form that manifests in (conceptual, visual, architectural, etc), lightly controlled chaos, tactility and materiality, in the considering of how the space is utilised and experienced. Art which does not navel gaze, but which is connected to the world. Social and political art which does not lecture but which offers conversation for change and possibility, and in ways which subvert. Intersections of different media, interdisciplinary practice. Installation. Tangential thought and directionality.
Look at what has happened before. If you think you might have something which would fit with all this, then feel free to drop me an email at hausofvovo@gmail.com
haus of vovo is not about pushing a program as much as an agenda. it is spatial, planar, locative, directional. it exhibits art which services ideas, colours, sounds, frequencies but does not preference one over the other.
some artworks are available for acquisition but this is not the primary focus of the gallery, which is philosophical, conversational. things which encourage us to dream and imagine. a currency based on different values.
haus of vovo sits on the unceded lands of the Big River Nation, Lutruwita.
Lands of the Leenowwenne clan.
the gallery is open from 12-4 saturday and sundays when exhibitions are on.
